DTC Planning Committee Meeting 28th October 2013

Minutes of the Planning Committee meeting held on 28th October 2013 in the Council Office, Lady Street, Dulverton, commencing at 2.30 pm.

Present: Councillors: Mr Keith Ross (Chairman); Mr R. Coyne, Mrs Judy Ernest (Minutes), Mrs Margaret Rawle, Mr Nick Thwaites and Ms Liz Schofield.

Apologies: None

Deferment of Business for Comment by the Public: No public present.

Declarations of Interest: None.

Planning Applications:

WTCA 13/13 Proposed Works to Trees in Conservation Area: Trim Ash and Beech hedge down to previous cut points, trim back and sides for a neat appearance.

Exmoor House Caravan Club Site, Dulverton, Somerset.

Observations: Members welcomed the maintenance to this hedge that runs alongside the leat.

6/9/13/121 Proposed construction of five new all-weather pitches in lieu of grass together with minor adjustments to eleven existing all weather pitches to provide grass dividing fingers. As per amended plan and information 22.10.13.

Observations: Members were uncertain as to why this amendment had been re-submitted as the proposal looked exactly the same as the item discussed at the previous planning meeting (1st Oct). Clarification as to why this was re-submitted would be welcomed.

     Correspondence:     Forestry Commission Consultation – Pixton: Felling conifers and restocking area with native broadleaves felled under Statutory Plant Health Notice. 10 hectares (ha) of rhododendron control and replanting to native broadleaves.

      

       Whilst members welcomed controlling the growth of the rhododendrons and replacing conifers with semi-mature broadleaf trees, concern was expressed regarding access for the heavy plant required to carry out this work. Members suggested that approval for this work should include the re-instatement of tracks.
